The Russian Prosecutor’s Office has sought a 13-year prison sentence for Sergei Yefimov, the former head of the FSB’s NDI-1 research institute, in a case involving the embezzlement of funds during the development of the “Oberig” anti-drone system.

Accountant Marina Khalandach is also on trial alongside Yefimov. The prosecution is seeking a nine-year prison sentence for her. The prosecution is also seeking fines of 2 million rubles for each defendant and compensation for the damages caused.

The investigation charges both with particularly large-scale fraud, money laundering of illegally obtained funds, and abuse of official authority during the execution of a state defense contract.

Three projects are involved in the case: “Oblik-RM-22,” “Oberig-22,” and “Oberig-23.” The “Oberig” system is designed to counter FPV drones and is classified as a mobile electronic warfare system.

According to the developers, the system is capable of jamming quadcopter control channels at a distance of up to 500 meters.
