Russian drone attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, kills at least three — Anadolu Agency

At least three people were killed and more than 10 others were injured in Kyiv, Ukraine, as a result of a Russian drone attack. Anadolu Agency reports, citing local authorities.

Damage in Kyiv and the region

According to the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a drone struck a market in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka. The strikes also damaged vehicles and caused fires at a warehouse and an office building.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has used 277 attack drones of various types since Saturday. According to him, the attacks damaged civilian and public facilities in various regions of Ukraine, including a building used as the residence of the Saudi Arabian ambassador.

Statements by Zelenskyy and the Russian side

Zelenskyy also reported damage to kindergartens, schools, a residential building, a vehicle repair shop, warehouses, and communications facilities in Kyiv. Separately, he said that a sports school in Dnipro and an orphanage in Sumy region were damaged.

The president called on Ukraine’s partners to increase pressure on Moscow. According to him, new sanctions packages should target financial networks, supply chains for components and equipment used in the production of Russian weapons, as well as companies and individuals involved primarily in the manufacture of ballistic missiles.

Russia has repeatedly denied that its armed forces deliberately attack civilian targets, saying that it strikes only military infrastructure or other military facilities. The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, an aggressor state, said its forces attacked communications and logistics facilities, as well as a cargo vessel which, the ministry claimed, was carrying military and dual-use goods for Ukrainian forces. It is difficult to independently verify the parties’ claims during the war.
