Russian drones attacked residential neighborhoods in Zaporizhzhia
Russian forces have once again attacked Zaporizhzhia with strike drones. One of the drones exploded near a shopping center, injuring three people, including a 10-year-old boy. High-rise buildings and non-residential structures in the city were also damaged.
In the evening, the Russian army once again sent attack drones toward Zaporizhzhia. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, one of the drones exploded near a shopping center.
After the initial reports, it became known that there were casualties. Rescue workers, medics, and law enforcement officers immediately rushed to the scene. “The enemy continues its attacks on Zaporizhzhia. A Russian drone exploded near a shopping center,” Ivan Fedorov reported. It later emerged that a 10-year-old boy and his father were injured in the attack.
According to the regional governor, the strike hit the roof of the supermarket. The explosion caused a fire in an apartment in a nearby residential building. The boy suffered an injury to his arm. Medical personnel hospitalized the child. His father also sustained injuries. Doctors provided the man with the necessary medical care.
Later, the number of casualties increased. “A 67-year-old man, a 49-year-old man, and a 10-year-old child were injured,” reported the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration. According to him, all the victims are under medical supervision.
The Russian attack caused significant damage in several areas of the city. At least eight apartment buildings are known to have been damaged. Non-residential buildings were also affected. In some buildings, the blast wave shattered windows and damaged facades and roofs. Utility services have already begun inspecting the affected structures. Rescue workers were clearing the aftermath of the strike and checking the area for further damage.
In recent weeks, Zaporizhzhia has been regularly targeted by Russian drones and missiles. Residential areas and civilian infrastructure are increasingly becoming targets. This time, the strike occurred near a commercial building and residential homes where civilians were present at the time of the attack. An air raid alert was in effect in the region during the attack, and emergency services continued to work at the impact sites.
