A Ukrainian man listed on the registry of missing children was found serving in the ranks of the occupying army

The “Back to Ukraine” civic initiative has identified the first confirmed case of a child listed in the “Children of War” state registry who ended up serving in the Russian Armed Forces. The case involves 19-year-old Oleksandr Mustyats (born in 2007) from the village of Krynky in the Kherson region, who was previously considered missing in action.

Investigators found the young man’s social media accounts, where he poses in a Russian military uniform bearing the “Z” symbol and the tricolor, and posts photos from the front lines. However, his page has been inactive since November 2025, which may indicate that he has been killed.

Mykola Kuleba, founder of the charitable organization “Save Ukraine,” emphasized that this case is a consequence of the systematic militarization and Russification of Ukrainian children in the occupied territories. By imposing a cult of the military, “Yunarmiya,” and propaganda, Russia is turning children who have been abducted and left under occupation into instruments of war against their own country.
