Russian drones attacked a residential area in Sumy
On the night of June 1, Russian forces attacked the Kovpakivskyi district of Sumy using "Geran-2" drones.
As a result of the enemy strikes, a preschool unit of a general education school, nearby residential buildings, a garage, and the sales area of a gas station were damaged.
According to Serhiy Kryvosheyko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, the blast wave shattered more than 20 windows at the affected preschool.
In addition, four nearby high-rise buildings sustained significant damage, with approximately 60 window and balcony frames shattered.
Lyudmila Yuryeva, director of the preschool, noted that two security guards were inside the building at the time of the strike but, fortunately, were unharmed. A fire also broke out on the premises, which was quickly extinguished by rescue workers.
The administration of the damaged school has already organized classes at a new location to ensure the safety of the students.
“We are continuing our work, but we have now moved to another building,” Lyudmila Yuryeva emphasized.
Currently, utility services are working at the scene, helping residents clean up the aftermath of the explosions and board up broken windows.
