The SBU has charged the head of the occupation railway in Luhansk Oblast
The Security Service of Ukraine has formally charged, in absentia, the head of the so-called “Luhansk branch” of the “Railways of Novorossiya” company, who organized logistics for Russian troops.
This was reported by the 3rd Directorate of the SBU Main Directorate in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The collaborator facilitated the transfer of armored vehicles, fuel, and Russian military personnel to the eastern front using seized assets of “Ukrzaliznytsia.”
According to the investigation, the suspect is a former businessman from Donetsk who voluntarily agreed in 2023 to head the structure created by the invaders.
“The Security Service of Ukraine has documented the criminal activities of the head of the so-called ‘Luhansk branch’ of the ‘Federal State Unitary Enterprise ‘Railways of Novorossiya,’ who, in the interests of the enemy, organizes military rail transport in the Luhansk region,” the agency noted.
Under the suspect’s leadership, close cooperation was established with structures of the Russian Ministry of Defense to support combat operations.
The occupiers set up special facilities at railway junctions to house military personnel and organized the repair and storage of enemy equipment at locomotive depots.
To meet the urgent needs of the Russian Federation’s army, the collaborator formed a special reserve of locomotives, which allowed for the rapid delivery of resources to the front lines.
Such actions are classified as aiding an aggressor state, as the railway network became a key element in the military logistics of the occupying forces.
Currently, the suspect has been notified of charges under Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to 12 years.
Since the suspect is located in the temporarily occupied territory, measures are ongoing to apprehend him and bring him to justice.
