The SBU detained an FSB agent while he was attempting to blow up a power substation in Kropyvnytskyi
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine thwarted a large-scale sabotage operation in a regional capital by detaining a Russian agent while he was preparing a terrorist attack.
This was reported by the SBU.
The perpetrator attempted to cut off power to Kropyvnytskyi by planting explosives under a key power substation in the city.
Special forces apprehended the suspect “red-handed” as he was retrieving a homemade explosive device from a concealed hiding place at the city entrance during curfew.
According to the masterminds’ plan, this explosion was intended to disable the power grid that supports the vital functions of the region’s strategic facilities.

According to the case file, the explosive device was equipped with 300 grams of plastic explosive and a mobile phone for remote detonation.
The saboteur planned to transport the bomb by taxi to the substation’s transformers to detonate it at a time determined by the enemy.
The perpetrator of this brazen crime turned out to be a local unemployed man whom Russian special services had recruited via Telegram channels.
The man was looking for easy money and, lured by the promise of quick cash, agreed to cooperate with the enemy, receiving the coordinates of the hiding place and a detailed plan of the attack.
During a search, investigators seized not only ready-to-use explosives from the detainee but also a smartphone containing evidence of direct correspondence with FSB operatives.
SBU investigators have already officially notified the agent of his suspicion of treason committed under martial law.
“As a result of preemptive actions, a Russian agent who was preparing to blow up a key power substation in the regional center has been detained,” the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine summarized.
The issue of additional charges under the article on preparation of sabotage is currently being decided.
As a reminder, the SBU detained a NABU employee at the entrance to Sumy.
The SBU also released the interrogation of an occupier who shot Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Kursk region.
