Sybiga spoke with India's foreign minister about the consequences of Russia's aggression
On July 31, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga held a telephone conversation with his Indian counterpart, Subramanyam Jaishankar. During the talks, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized the global consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine and the importance of international cooperation in overcoming its effects.
“I emphasized that the consequences of Russian aggression extend far beyond Ukraine’s borders. By attacking civilian vessels in the Black Sea, Russia is undermining freedom of navigation and jeopardizing global food security. At the same time, its ongoing war is exacerbating instability in global energy markets, which has consequences for countries far beyond our region,” the diplomat noted.
The parties also exchanged information on recent international contacts and discussed the outcomes of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent visit to Washington.
Sibiga reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to achieving a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace and called on India to play an active role in peace efforts.
As a reminder, Sibiga spoke with Iran’s foreign minister for the first time.
Earlier, Tehran accused Ukraine of attacking an Iranian vessel at Israel’s behest.
On the night of July 29, Iran launched a missile strike on one of the U.S. military bases in the Middle East. This was the first attack since the parties announced last week that they would cease mutual strikes.
