Defense forces eliminated a decorated Russian weightlifter
On May 16, 2026, in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, the “Sila” sports club organized an arm-wrestling tournament dedicated to the memory of the invader Maxim Volin.
The Russian athlete actively participated in a full-scale war of aggression against our country and was successfully neutralized by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The eliminated invader was born on April 21, 1987, and devoted a significant part of his civilian life to strength sports, particularly arm wrestling.
This discipline involves competitions in lifting heavy weights using a specific hand grip with non-standard thick bars and special weights.
During his athletic career in Russia, Volin earned several titles, including Master of Sports in two-handed block lifting according to the Russian Armwrestling Union (WAO). He also held the status of a regional-level judge for the World Armwrestling Association (WAA).
However, his athletic past did not prevent the Russian from becoming a war criminal.
“Since 2022, Volin has been participating in Russia’s criminal war against Ukraine,” the media reports, describing his service in the ranks of the occupying army, where he served as an operator of strike and reconnaissance UAVs.
The invader helped direct fire at the positions of Ukrainian soldiers and civilian cities until he was fatally wounded on the front lines.
