Defense forces repelled 38 assaults in the Pokrovsk sector
Over the past 24 hours, on May 24, 233 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front lines.
This is stated in a Facebook post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the situation as of 8:00 a.m. on May 25.
The enemy displayed the greatest offensive activity in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions, attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses.
The Russian army launched massive strikes on Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.
“The enemy launched one missile strike, using 89 missiles, and carried out 89 airstrikes, dropping 261 guided bombs,” the military reported.
In addition, the Russians deployed 9,975 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,898 shelling attacks, including 58 from multiple launch rocket systems.
The Ukrainian Air Force, missile forces, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces delivered precision strikes in response against the occupiers’ rear positions.
Our defenders struck six areas of troop concentration, one UAV command post, and three Russian artillery pieces.
In the Volyn and Polissya sectors, the situation remains stable; no signs of Russian offensive groupings have been detected.
In other sectors of the front, intense defensive battles against the enemy’s superior forces continued.
In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk sectors, the enemy carried out five airstrikes using 16 guided bombs and conducted 74 artillery attacks, including two from multiple launch rocket systems; one enemy assault operation was recorded there.
In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, Russian forces attacked seven times in the areas of Fyholivka, Veterinarne, Starytsia, and toward Okhrimivka and Ternova.
Ukrainian troops managed to halt the advance of the occupiers’ assault groups in several areas of Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy attempts to advance toward Novoosynove.
In the Lyman direction, the Russians attempted 11 times to breach the defenses in the areas of Drobysheve, Dibrova, Yampil, Lyman, and Stavky.
The invaders also carried out active offensive attempts in the areas of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. In the Sloviansk sector, the invaders launched eight assaults in the areas of Zakitne, Rai-Oleksandrivka, Kryva Luka, and Riznykivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russian army carried out one offensive operation in the Nikiforivka area, which was unsuccessful.
Heavy pressure was recorded near strategic defense hubs in the Donetsk region. In the Kostiantynivka sector, the enemy carried out 15 attacks near Pleshchiivka, Ivanopil, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Rusyno Yar.
The most difficult situation remains in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 38 Russian assaults in the areas of Toretsk, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novopavlivka, Muravka, and toward Kucheriiv Yar, Shevchenko, and Bilytske.
On the southern section of the front, the invaders attempted to launch a broad-front attack using armored vehicles.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian troops launched four attacks in the Ternove area and toward Velyka Mykhailivka.
In the Huliaipole sector, the invaders carried out 28 attacks in the areas of Pryluky, Zaliznychne, Olenokostyantynivka, and toward Hirky, Novozaporizhzhia, Staroukrainka, Verkhnia Tersa, Tsvitkove, and Charivne.
Defensive operations are also ongoing on the Orikhiv salient and along the Dnipro River.
In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces repelled three Russian attempts to advance in the areas of Bilohirya and Stepnogorsk and toward Primorsky.
In the Dnipro direction, the enemy attacked twice in the area of the Antonivsky Bridge, but Ukrainian units are firmly holding their positions.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with NATO member states, announced the launch of the first competition for the development of next-generation defense technologies. The initiative is being implemented as part of the UNITE – Brave NATO program.
