Ukraine has proposed that Russia agree to halt attacks on infrastructure — Zelenskyy
Ukraine has proposed that its partners secure an agreement with Russia that would provide for a halt to attacks on critical infrastructure. Specifically, this refers to the protection of energy, food, and logistics infrastructure, as well as other facilities necessary to meet the basic needs of the population.
Ukraine emphasizes that Russian strikes are directed daily at energy facilities, ports, logistics centers, as well as warehouses storing food and pharmaceutical products. At the same time, Kyiv is not confident that Russia is prepared to abide by such agreements.
Ukraine is prepared to refrain from striking Russian energy facilities and critical infrastructure if its partners can guarantee that Moscow will do the same. Officials in Kyiv stress that such an agreement must be reliable, long-term, and have a tangible impact on people’s lives.
“If our partners are ready to ensure that Russia genuinely has no intention of targeting our power grid, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure, or food supply chains, then we are, of course, ready to ensure that we do not carry out such strikes. This must be reliable, long-term, and have a real impact on people’s lives—not something that falls apart after the Russians hold their ‘elections’ and get a temporary reprieve on gasoline and diesel prices. The war must end. And a de-escalation measure regarding critical infrastructure could be the first step toward peace. We expect our partners to provide specifics,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state announced this on his Telegram channel.
