For the first time in 30 years, the Russian Federation will allow the free sale of gas masks
Starting March 1, 2027, for the first time in over 30 years, the Russian Federation will allow the free sale of certified civilian gas masks—including those for children—as well as protective child-sized chambers.
These changes are enshrined in a decree issued by Putin, which removes personal respiratory protection equipment from the list of products subject to restrictions on civilian circulation.
Restrictions on the free sale of these goods had been in place since 1992, as they were classified as dual-use products. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that this decision was made so that citizens could independently protect themselves against radiological, chemical, and biological threats.
