Trump claims Ukraine and Russia agreed not to attack energy facilities
US President Donald Trump said on September 14 that Ukraine and the Russian Federation — an aggressor state — had allegedly agreed to stop striking each other’s energy infrastructure. In a Truth Social post, he wrote that Ukraine had agreed not to strike Russian energy targets and that Russia would do the same.

Appeal to Zelenskyy
Earlier, Trump called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy not to strike Russian facilities related to diesel fuel. During a visit to Ireland, he said that Ukraine should attack other targets, but not diesel fuel, because, according to him, this causes shortages.

Moscow reacted favorably to this comment. At the same time, Ukraine insists that energy facilities are legitimate military targets in countering Russian troops that invaded its territory more than four years ago.
Oil refining and diesel
Last week, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported strikes on two Russian oil refineries. According to him, Moscow uses oil revenues to finance the war and the killing of Ukrainians.
Trump also linked rising global diesel prices primarily to the Russian-Ukrainian war rather than the US war against Iran. According to CNBC, the average price of diesel fuel in the United States reached $6 per gallon for the first time on Friday. The outlet notes that the sharp price increase coincided with the escalation of the war with Iran, including a recent drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline.
