On the afternoon of May 3, air defense forces shot down 175 drones and five missiles
On May 3, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down 175 Russian UAVs of various types and five X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles. The enemy attack lasted from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, and mobile fire groups were deployed to repel it.
The Ukrainian Air Force Command reported this on Facebook.
In total, during this period, Russia launched 234 strike drones at Ukrainian cities, including Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and “Parody” decoy drones, as well as two “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles. Air defense systems were active in the northern, southern, and central regions of the country, neutralizing the threat to many civilian facilities. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of electronic warfare units and unmanned systems, a significant number of drones used to exhaust Ukrainian airspace were successfully suppressed.
The command notes that the invaders continue to combine different types of weapons, using both jet-powered “Shahed” variants and cheaper analogues for reconnaissance and target simulation. Despite the massive scale of the attack, most of the air attack assets were successfully neutralized. Law enforcement officers are documenting the aftermath of the attack and collecting debris from downed missiles and drones for further analysis of enemy tactics. Thus, Sunday became one of the most intense days for Ukrainian air defenders in recent times.
