Syrsky provided an estimate of the number of Russian forces on the southern front
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi visited military units and subunits carrying out combat missions in the most challenging sectors of the southern operational zone. According to him, the Russian army continues to strengthen its presence and intensify its efforts on the southern sectors of the front. During the trip, Syrskyi familiarized himself with the current situation and the work of Ukrainian defenders on the front lines.
“On the ground, I worked alongside the commander of the Airborne Assault Forces Group, Major General Oleg Apostol, and the commanders of the airborne assault and assault units. We discussed the current situation, the results of the tasks carried out, and further steps to strengthen our positions,” the statement said.
Syrskyi noted that he supported the commanders’ initiatives regarding active operations in specific areas. The general also decided to provide additional technical equipment and ammunition to the units.
“He emphasized separately: the top priority during combat missions remains the preservation of the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. With the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Group, Major Robert Brovdi, they discussed current issues regarding the development and use of unmanned systems. We continue to build up our capabilities to strike the enemy, particularly at operational depth,” the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
According to Syrskyi, Russia continues to intensify its efforts. “In the Oleksandrivka sector alone, the Russian force group numbers over 71,000 troops. The enemy has concentrated roughly the same number in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors. The situation remains dynamic—both Russian troops and the Ukrainian Defense Forces are engaged in active combat operations,” he emphasized.

Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces struck 1,571 targets of the Russian occupiers over the past 24 hours.
In May, the Ukrainian Defense Forces doubled the number of strikes on Russian targets at a distance of over 50 kilometers from the front line. At the same time, the enemy suffered heavy casualties, while the effectiveness of Ukrainian attacks and air defense operations increased significantly.
The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine summarized the results of 358 days of operations and released data on verified losses of Russian troops inflicted by Ukrainian drones.
