Slavutych left in darkness due to Russian shelling
Slavutych in Kyiv region has once again been left without electricity following a massive Russian strike on energy infrastructure. This is at least the fourth time since the beginning of autumn that the city has experienced a complete blackout. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
During the night, the enemy struck energy and civilian infrastructure, using more than 240 attack drones and 36 sea- and ground-launched missiles. “As a result of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, the city of Slavutych has once again been left without power,” the ministry’s press service stated.
Administratively, the city belongs to Kyiv region, but it is completely surrounded by Chernihiv region, which complicates the rapid restoration of electricity supply. Previously, Slavutych had already experienced three full blackouts after shelling, and local residents know well what it means to live in darkness and cold.
Local authorities and energy workers are working to restore electricity supply; however, due to extensive damage to the networks and difficult weather conditions, the process may take several hours. Residents are advised to be prepared for temporary inconveniences and to conserve electricity where possible. “The city is once again in darkness, but we are working to restore electricity and heating as quickly as possible,” the Ministry of Energy’s press service reported.
