A court handed down a sentence to an occupier who raped a woman in the Donetsk region for nearly two months
Sergey Karpilovich, a serviceman in the Russian Federation Armed Forces, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for systematically raping a 57-year-old civilian woman for more than two months in an occupied village in the Pokrovsk District of Donetsk Oblast.
The convicted man is a 50-year-old resident of the Sverdlovsk Oblast of the Russian Federation who had previously served 32 years in prison for robbery and armed robbery and had signed a contract while in prison. Despite the defendant’s denial of guilt—he claimed the relationship was consensual—prosecutors provided sufficient evidence to secure the maximum sentence for committing a war crime.

According to the investigation, in 2025, 51-year-old Russian serviceman Sergey Karpilovich systematically raped a resident of the village of Zolotyi Kolodyazh in the Donetsk region for over two months, threatening her with an automatic rifle and murder. Throughout this time, two other Russian soldiers were present, and the woman was effectively unable to leave the location or defend herself. The abuse ended in December when, during combat operations, Ukrainian troops captured the occupier and freed the victim.
The SBU announced that it had charged a Russian intelligence officer with recruiting teenagers for sabotage operations.
As a reminder, the SBU detained a woman suspected of working for Russian intelligence services.
