Gas Pipeline Damaged and Schools Closed in Belgorod Region
In the Borisovsky District of Russia’s Belgorod Region, a successful drone strike disabled a critical energy infrastructure facility.
The attack hit a gas distribution hub, leaving many settlements without gas supply and heating. Local governor Gladkov confirmed that the target was a strategic facility in the village of Borisovka. The explosion triggered a large-scale fire, which emergency services struggled to contain for an extended period.
Damage to the main pipelines caused an immediate halt in gas delivery, leading to a collapse of local utilities. As a result, the authorities took radical measures for educational institutions:
Four schools were temporarily closed because classroom temperatures no longer met safety standards. Classes will remain suspended indefinitely until the damaged systems are fully restored.
Four kindergartens now operate only as emergency groups. Only children of parents working in critical infrastructure can attend.
In addition to major material and infrastructural losses, the incident resulted in casualties among occupation forces. Gladkov confirmed the death of a soldier from the specialized unit “Orlan.”
Previously, Belgorod had already been left without hot water and heating, and attacks also caused power outages, further affecting the region’s residents.
