Search and rescue operations have been completed in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv following the Russian attack

On Thursday, May 15, a Day of Mourning was declared in Kyiv for those killed in one of the largest Russian airstrikes. In the capital, the cleanup of debris at the site where a residential building was hit in the Darnytskyi district was also completed. The search and rescue operation following the strike, which occurred on the night of May 14, lasted more than 24 hours.

This was reported by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

According to updated data, State Emergency Service units worked at the scene of the tragedy for over 28 hours. During this time, more than 3,000 cubic meters of the building’s destroyed structures were cleared.

Results of the operation:

  • The deaths of 24 people have been confirmed, three of whom were children.
  • Forty-eight people sustained injuries of varying severity.
  • Psychologists from the State Emergency Service and the National Police provided support to nearly 400 people—victims and relatives of the deceased.

“State Emergency Service units have moved on to emergency restoration work,” said Ihor Klymenko.
