Kyiv has updated the rules for driving across bridges during an air raid alert
Kyiv has updated the traffic rules for vehicles crossing the Dnipro River via bridges during an air raid alert.
The changes apply to several bridges, but traffic on some of them will continue without restrictions during air raid alerts.
During an air raid alert, traffic from the left bank to the right bank of the Dnipro River via the South Bridge will continue without restrictions.
At the same time, traffic from the right bank to the left bank is restricted for 15 minutes from the moment the air raid alert is announced. After this period ends, traffic resumes.
Access to the South Bridge in the direction from the right to the left bank is available from:
- Capital Highway;
- Naddniprianske Highway;
- the “Vydubychi” bus station.
On the Podil-Voskresensky Bridge, the rules provide for a temporary complete suspension of traffic.
If an air raid alert is declared or lifted, traffic in both directions will be suspended for 15 minutes.
After the 15-minute period ends, traffic will resume in full.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, traffic will continue without restrictions on the following bridges during an air raid alert:
- The Northern Bridge;
- Darnitsky Bridge;
- Paton Bridge;
- Metro Bridge.
Thus, restrictions during an air raid alert currently apply to the South Bridge and the Podil-Voskresensky Bridge, while traffic on the North Bridge, Darnytsia Bridge, Paton Bridge, and Metro Bridge remains unrestricted.
“Please take this information into account when planning your trips,” the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) noted.
The Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) announced the new restrictions on October 3.
On the morning of October 3, Russian troops struck the Northern Bridge in Kyiv. Prior to this, a series of explosions rocked the capital amid an air raid alert and the threat of an attack by strike drones.
In Kyiv, the routes of trolleybuses Nos. 29, 30, 31, and 47 have been temporarily changed due to damage to the overhead wire system on the North Bridge.
Russian troops may be using hidden radio repeaters in Kyiv to guide Shahed attack drones immediately before they strike their targets.
