Peace talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine could begin as early as the summer of 2026. This view was expressed by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful.
According to the head of the German Foreign Ministry, the current situation on the front lines indicates that neither side has a decisive advantage. He noted that the war has effectively reached a stalemate, which could create the conditions for a diplomatic settlement.
Wadeful also suggested that Russian leader Vladimir Putin may currently be seriously considering the possibility of a negotiation process.
However, the German minister did not provide specific details regarding the possible format of the negotiations or the potential participants in such a process.
