An explosion occurred at one of Russia's largest oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk

An explosion occurred at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, injuring 13 people, seven of whom were hospitalized.

A fire covering an area of about 1,500 square meters broke out after the explosion; emergency services are on the scene.

According to preliminary data, the incident may have been caused by equipment malfunction.

Meanwhile, a fire also broke out at the Taneco oil refinery complex in the city—one of the largest petrochemical centers in Russia.

Nizhnekamsk is located approximately 1,300 km from the Ukrainian border.

On the night of March 26, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirishi Oil Refinery in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russia.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck a strategically important facility of the Russian Federation’s fuel and energy infrastructure. The target was the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery, located in the city of Ufa, about 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border.
