Power outages reported in five regions of Ukraine due to enemy attacks
As of the morning of 19 February, mass consumer power outages have been recorded due to systematic attacks on energy infrastructure and severe weather conditions.
The Ministry of Energy reports a critical situation in the eastern, southern and central regions of the country.
The most difficult situation is observed in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where energy facilities have been damaged as a result of hostilities.
Energy workers are operating under an intensified regime; however, the security situation often limits the speed of restoration efforts.
The Ministry of Energy is paying particular attention to Odesa region, where the consequences of previous enemy attacks remain significant and the condition of the power grids is described as challenging. Continuous restoration works are currently under way there to stabilise the system.
In addition to military factors, electricity supply has been significantly affected by an atmospheric фронт that caused weather-related accidents.
More than 458 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions remain without electricity.
Due to a power generation deficit in the energy system, scheduled hourly blackouts have been introduced in most regions of Ukraine today.
Strict power consumption limits also apply to industrial enterprises.
In some areas where the grid condition has reached a critical threshold, dispatchers have been forced to implement emergency outages outside the planned schedules. This is necessary to prevent large-scale accidents on main transmission lines.
Previously, nearly 100,000 people in Odesa and the surrounding region remained without electricity due to Russian shelling.
