Internet restrictions were imposed in the Moscow region ahead of May 9

Residents of the Moscow Region are reporting disruptions to their wired internet service and restricted access to only "whitelisted" websites ahead of the parade.

Russian media reported this on May 2.

According to them, the “whitelists” on home internet were implemented by the provider “Vsem Wi-Fi.” Similar restrictions appeared on the Istranet network. As noted by “Durov Code,” this is most likely related to a decision by a “higher-level operator.”

One resident of the Shchelkovo district complained that her internet has been operating under “whitelists” since Friday, while customer support claims this will continue throughout the May holidays and the company bears no responsibility for it.

Local media sources reported last week on plans to impose strict internet restrictions in the Moscow region ahead of the Victory Day parade. State Duma Deputy Alexei Svintsov warned that the restrictions would affect not only mobile internet but also wired internet.

“This is because a large number of foreign guests will arrive on May 9. These are high-ranking guests—presidents, heads of government,” Svintsov said. He also emphasized that “all citizens of the Russian Federation have long been accustomed” to such practices.

As a reminder, mobile internet has gone down again in St. Petersburg.

As a reminder, mobile internet went down in St. Petersburg following a drone attack.

Mobile internet has been completely shut down in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

In Russia, government agencies have once again shut down the entire internet.
