The search for a fragment of a Russian missile is underway again in Poland
Polish investigators are once again working at the site where a Russian missile crashed in Tarnów-Kolonia in the Lublin region. After further analysis of the collected evidence, it became clear that another piece of debris may still be there. Special equipment capable of scanning the ground at considerable depths has been brought in to locate it.
The Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office has resumed the search at the site where the Russian missile crashed in Tarnów-Kolonia. The incident occurred on Thursday, and by Saturday, investigators had returned to the site to continue their work. During the initial survey of the area, law enforcement officers used ground-penetrating radar and metal detectors. They managed to find and recover important evidence.
However, further laboratory analysis indicated that another rocket fragment may still be at the site. That is why it was decided to continue the search operation. Marcin Kozak, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin, reported that the search area had been expanded this time. The reason is the terrain’s characteristics and the likelihood that the debris could be buried quite deep underground.
Standard equipment might not be sufficient to locate it. Therefore, on Saturday, investigators brought in specialized equipment to conduct a deep scan of the soil. The military police have secured the site where the work is taking place. At the same time, the prosecutor’s office is urging residents not to worry. According to officials, the debris currently being searched for poses no threat to human life or health.
Finding it is also not critically important for the investigation itself. However, the fragment could help establish the full circumstances of the missile’s crash in greater detail and provide a more complete picture of what happened. Search and investigative work at the site is ongoing, according to RMF24.
