A Russian aerial bomb that fell near a residential building was defused in Zaporizhzhia

Bomb disposal experts from the State Emergency Service successfully defused a Russian FAB-500 aerial bomb that had fallen near a residential building in Zaporizhzhia following yet another enemy strike and, miraculously, had not exploded.

Rescuers were alerted to the ordnance by a Zaporizhzhia resident who noticed the dangerous object near his home following the Russian attack.

After an inspection, SES specialists determined that it was a Russian FAB-500 aerial bomb that had failed to detonate upon impact.

As the bomb disposal experts discovered, the 500-kilogram munition was buried at a depth of about five meters, which significantly complicated the recovery operation.

Rescuers used specialized engineering equipment for the operation, which lasted two days.

After completing the work, the bomb disposal experts successfully retrieved the aerial bomb, transported it to a designated location, and destroyed it in a controlled manner.

The State Emergency Service emphasized that the prompt report from a local resident and the professional actions of the bomb disposal experts prevented a potential tragedy, as an explosion of a FAB-500 near a residential area could have led to widespread destruction and numerous casualties.

The State Emergency Service reported this on Facebook.

As a reminder, Russian troops attacked Sumy with guided aerial bombs, injuring an elderly woman. Damage to civilian infrastructure has been reported in the city, and emergency services are assessing the full extent of the strike’s impact.

As a result of a massive Russian strike on the capital, a rented humanitarian warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed; it had stored over 320,000 items of cargo and equipment with a total value of more than 79 million hryvnias

As a result of Russian shelling and a fire at one of the capital’s industrial facilities, fuel and lubricants flowed into Kyrylivskyi Lake in Kyiv via the storm sewer system.
