Zelenskyy's office explained Russia's new missile strike tactics

Russia has changed its approach to the use of ballistic missiles, seeking to launch strikes without having to build up large stockpiles over time. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s team believes that the Kremlin is seeking to exploit the limited capabilities of Ukraine’s partners to intercept such targets.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated that Russia is using ballistic missiles immediately after they are manufactured, seeking to exploit the limited number of anti-missile weapons available to Ukraine’s partners.

According to him, the Kremlin is seeking to exert constant pressure on Ukraine’s air defense system and its allies, who are unable to quickly replenish their stocks of interceptor missiles.

“This is Putin; he’s panicking, and this strategy will continue to work for some time,” Podolyak noted.

At the same time, the Presidential Office adviser emphasized that one of the most effective ways to weaken Russia’s missile capabilities is to block the supply of components needed to produce “Kalibr,” “Iskander,” “Zircon,” “Onyx,” and “Kinzhal” missiles.

“Russia does not manufacture ‘Kalibrs,’ ‘Iskanders,’ ‘Zirkons,’ ‘Onyxes,’ and ‘Kinzhals’ from its own materials,” he emphasized.

Podolyak noted that most of the critically important microchips and electronics originate from North America and Europe. Therefore, in addition to ramping up production of interceptor missiles, partners can more quickly influence the situation by cutting off supply channels for such components to Russia.

“We can take action right here and now to block Russia’s ability to obtain components for the production of the very same ‘Iskander-M’ missiles with which they are attacking us from Bryansk,” Podolyak explained.

He also added that the manufacturers, suppliers, intermediaries, and countries through which the components are supplied are known, and therefore these channels can be blocked quickly.

“It’s clear which companies are manufacturers, which are suppliers, through which intermediaries they operate, and through which countries. All of this can be stopped fairly quickly,” the Presidential Office adviser emphasized in a comment to Channel 24.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki at the NATO summit in Ankara on July 8, which lasted over an hour. The main topic of the talks was countering the common threat posed by Russia and the need to maintain mutual understanding between the countries.

Earlier, Marcin Przydacz, head of the Polish President’s Office for International Policy, stated that the Ukrainian side had canceled the planned meetings between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
