Ukraine Is Ready for an Easter Ceasefire — Zelenskyy

Ukraine is ready to support a ceasefire during the Easter holidays, provided that the country’s sovereignty and dignity are preserved.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that any formats for ending hostilities are considered solely through the prism of the country’s independence.

The head of state noted that the Ukrainian side has always advocated for constructive solutions that bring the end of the war closer.

At the same time, he emphasized the importance not of temporary pauses, but of lasting peace, which all civilized societies strive for.

Speaking to journalists, Zelenskyy stated: “We have supported any format for ending the war, as you know, but as long as we do not lose the dignity and independence of our state, and regarding a ceasefire—any format, as we discussed today, whether comprehensive or limited—we are ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays.”

The president also added that “normal people who respect life” are talking about a ceasefire and ending the war forever, not just for a few days. This reflects Kyiv’s strategic vision for long-term security in the region.

Commenting on the possible risks that Russia might use the holiday lull to regroup or reinforce its troops, Zelenskyy expressed skepticism.

He recalled the enemy’s failed plans at the start of the full-scale invasion.

The head of state noted: “But, of course, we are ready for any compromises. Except for compromises regarding our dignity and sovereignty, as I said. As for strengthening Russia’s position in just 2–3 days, they won’t be able to strengthen anything in 2–3 days. We remember what they promised in those 3 days and what they failed to do.”

As a reminder, Zelenskyy explained why the trilateral meeting with Russia is falling through.

Also, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke in an interview with Reuters about the actual losses the Russian army is suffering.
