Russia has lost more than a thousand more troops in Ukraine over the past 24 hours

The Russian army has lost approximately 1,020 troops over the past 24 hours. 

This was reported on the morning of May 25 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Ukrainian command, total Russian personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion have already reached approximately 1,356,940 soldiers.

The General Staff also released updated statistics on Russian equipment losses.

As of May 25, Russia has lost:

  • 11,953 tanks (+3 in the past 24 hours);
  • 24,608 armored combat vehicles (+5);
  • 42,687 artillery systems (+47);
  • 1,802 multiple launch rocket systems (+2);
  • 1,396 air defense systems;
  • 436 aircraft;
  • 353 helicopters;
  • 1,465 ground-based robotic systems (+14);
  • 310,245 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles (+1,924);
  • 4,687 cruise missiles (+55);
  • 33 ships and boats;
  • 2 submarines;
  • 99,000 vehicles and tankers (+302);
  • 4,218 units of specialized equipment (+2).

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that since the beginning of 2026 alone, Russia’s losses on the front lines have exceeded 145,000 personnel.

According to the head of state, these include:

  • nearly 86,000 killed in action;
  • at least 59,000 seriously wounded;
  • over 800 Russian soldiers taken prisoner.

Total combat losses of Russian troops from February 24, 2022, to May 24, 2026, amount to approximately 1,355,920 personnel. Over the past 24 hours, 1,110 soldiers have been killed.

Russian troops continue their attempts to disrupt the logistical support of Ukrainian units in the south. The Southern Defense Forces reported that the enemy is attempting to cut off supply routes toward Zaporizhzhia, Huliaipole, and Orikhiv, but these efforts have been unsuccessful. Ukrainian troops are holding their positions and maintaining control of the situation on this section of the front.
