Russia attacked 49 settlements in the Sumy region; there is one fatality and several injuries

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have shelled 49 settlements in the Sumy region. As a result of the attacks, one person was killed and four other civilians were wounded.

This was reported by the Sumy region police.

The territories of the Sumy, Shostka, Okhtyrka, Konotop, and Romny districts came under enemy fire.

The Russian army used guided aerial bombs, strike and FPV drones, as well as artillery.

In the Krasnopil community, a 24-year-old man was killed when a Russian drone struck a car.

In the Hlukhiv community, a 75-year-old man was injured in a drone attack.

Another casualty—a 55-year-old man—was injured in the Mykolaiv rural community after explosives were dropped from a drone.

In the Seredyna-Buda community, a 57-year-old woman was injured as a result of a UAV attack, and in the Vorozhba community, an 80-year-old woman was injured by an enemy drone strike.

Numerous instances of destruction and fires were also reported as a result of the shelling. The following were damaged:

  • apartment buildings and private homes;
  • farm buildings;
  • warehouses;
  • vehicles;
  • infrastructure facilities.

Police investigative and operational teams and bomb disposal experts are working at the scenes.

Criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—war crimes—for all incidents.

On the evening of May 24, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region, hitting a high-rise residential building. A woman was killed in the attack, and five other people were injured.
