Ukrainian forces have successfully pushed Russian forces back from Lyman
Ukrainian defense forces continue to successfully hold the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, which is strategically important to Russia as a gateway to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Thanks to the coordinated actions of units integrated into the Third Army Corps, the situation has been fully stabilized, and the enemy has been pushed significantly further away from the outskirts.
As noted by Fedir Shapovalov, chief of intelligence for the 120th Separate Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Territorial Defense Forces, in the fall of 2025, the enemy managed to approach the outskirts of the city and achieved success in infiltration, which marked the peak of its pressure in this direction.
However, Ukrainian troops established an effective system of explosive and non-explosive barriers, which halted the occupiers’ advance. Currently, the 66th Mechanized Brigade, the 120th Tank Brigade, and the 3rd Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service are operating within the combat formations of the Third Army Corps, which was deployed a year ago. Despite the fact that the enemy’s active use of drones complicates logistics, Ukrainian defenders are deploying ground-based robotic systems to ensure the uninterrupted supply of ammunition and provisions to the front lines.
This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
Konstantin Mashovets, an expert at the Center for Military and Political Studies, suggested that Ukraine could lose control of Kostiantynivka as early as June-July 2026.
Russian invaders have significantly intensified their offensive operations along the entire front line, engaging in 240 combat clashes with Ukrainian defenders over the course of June 7.
