The Chongar Bridge was struck by Ukrainian "Behemoth" and FP-2 kamikaze drones

The Chongar Bridge, one of the key logistics routes for supplying Russian forces, was struck by Ukrainian FP-2 and "Behemoth" kamikaze drones on the night of June 7.

The joint operation was carried out by units of the “Phalanx” Multidomain Operations Center of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment and the 475th Separate Assault Regiment CODE 9.2, completely blocking traffic across the bridge.

According to reports from Russian “military correspondents,” the bridge sustained serious damage, and its restoration could take up to a month, paralyzing traffic on the R-280 highway built by the occupiers, which connects Rostov-on-Don with Crimea via Mariupol. This attack marked the first known combat use of the “Behemoth” middle-range strike drone, which has a range of up to 300 km and carries a 40-kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead and a 35-kg thermobaric warhead. The drone supports autonomous, semi-automatic, and FPV control modes and is capable of flying at extremely low altitudes to evade air defense systems; however, the exact number of drones used in the strike has not yet been disclosed.

This was reported by the press service of the 1st Special Operations Brigade.

Drone operators from the 3rd Separate Regiment of the Special Operations Forces named after Prince Sviatoslav the Brave established air control over a section of the strategic Melitopol — Chongar, which Russian troops actively use to supply their forces in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

In May 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on key elements of Russian military infrastructure as part of the “middle strike” campaign. Logistical routes in the Luhansk region and toward Crimea, as well as the occupiers’ warehouses, headquarters, and air defense systems, came under fire, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
