A child was killed in a Russian strike on Cherkasy
An eight-year-old boy was killed and twelve others were injured in an attack by Russian military drones on Cherkasy on the evening of April 14.
This was reported by Suspilne, citing Igor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration. Nine of the injured, including the child, were hospitalized; the rest received medical assistance on the spot.
Air defense forces destroyed nine Russian drones over the region, but at least four high-rise buildings in the city were damaged by falling debris and direct hits. Explosions in Cherkasy were heard between 6:08 p.m. and 6:14 p.m. following the announcement of an air raid alert for the entire region. Currently, surveys of the area and cleanup efforts following the enemy strike are underway at the scene.
The tragedy in Cherkasy occurred amid yet another escalation of Russian terror against Ukraine’s civilian population. At the same time, the systemic recession in the Russian economy, which officially began in April 2026, and Ukraine’s signing of new defense agreements with Germany indicate the further depletion of the aggressor’s strategic resources. Despite this, Russia continues to employ drone attack tactics, resulting in civilian casualties and the destruction of residential infrastructure.
On the afternoon of April 14, 2026, Russian troops attacked Dnipro. The strike injured civilians and caused a fire at the site.
Earlier reports indicated that five people were killed and another 25 were injured as a result of the missile strike on Dnipro.
