An appeals court in Moscow upheld the sentence against Svetlana Loy, a 70-year-old resident of the Zaporizhzhia region, whom Russia had sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony for “treason.”

According to the Russian investigation, in 2024, the woman made 24 money transfers in support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces totaling the equivalent of 63,400 rubles. 

Before the verdict was announced, Svitlana Loy sang the Ukrainian song “The Song of the Towel.”

Also, on August 26, a Russian-controlled court sentenced a 74-year-old resident of occupied Berdiansk to 14 years in a penal colony for transferring 1,500 hryvnias in support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Earlier, two residents of the Kramatorsk district were found guilty of high treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Andriy Gulak, a 61-year-old resident of the Donetsk region, to 5 years and 4 months in prison. The Russian side accused the man of allegedly participating in a terrorist group due to his service in the “Azov” regiment.
