Video: Drones Attacked an Oil Refinery in Saratov
On the night of July 8, a series of explosions rocked the Russian city of Saratov, after which a massive fire broke out at a local oil refinery. According to preliminary reports, the facility was the target of a drone attack.
According to eyewitnesses, the facility—which is owned by the state-run company Rosneft and is one of the key oil refineries in the Volga region—was struck.
The attack took place in the middle of the night and caught local air defense forces off guard. In numerous videos that instantly spread across social media, the characteristic sounds of drones flying overhead can be clearly heard, followed by loud explosions. The footage shows thick black smoke rising and a powerful glow from the fire after the drones flew over the plant.
Meanwhile, at approximately 2:14 a.m., Ruslan Busargin, governor of the Saratov region, stated that the Russian Ministry of Defense had provided information about the threat of drone attacks.
“Local warning systems may be activated in areas of potential threat. All emergency services have been placed on full alert,” he wrote on social media.
Due to the attack, the federal agency “Rosaviatsiya” was forced to urgently implement the “Kilim” plan and restrict operations at the international airport in Saratov.
At the time of publication, there had been no official confirmation of a successful strike from the Ukrainian military command (the General Staff or the Main Intelligence Directorate) or from representatives of the Russian regime, which is standard practice for such special operations deep behind Russian lines.
As a reminder, Russian forces struck Odesa—there are casualties, and infrastructure has been damaged.
The strike on Odesa was carried out with a missile equipped with a cluster warhead.
