Video: The fire at the oil terminal in St. Petersburg turned out to be much larger than initially thought
Following the overnight drone attack on the Petersburg Oil Terminal in St. Petersburg, new details have emerged regarding the scale of the fire. According to Russian and OSINT sources, the blaze at the facility turned out to be significantly more severe than initially reported in the first official statements.
A fire broke out at the terminal following the drone strike. The fire engulfed part of the tank farm, and thick black smoke was visible from various parts of the city. Photos and videos posted online show that the fire continued to spread even after the initial reports of the attack.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov confirmed the drone attack and claimed that three UAVs had been shot down over the city. At the same time, Russian authorities have not officially reported on the extent of the damage at the facility itself.
A video showing the strikes has also been published.
The St. Petersburg oil terminal is one of Russia’s key oil infrastructure facilities in the Baltic region. It is used for the transshipment, storage, and shipment of petroleum products.
The attack took place on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which Vladimir Putin is expected to attend. The facility where the fire broke out is located just a few kilometers from the city center.
