The Security Service of Ukraine reported that it had struck the Avero, a large tanker belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet,” in the Black Sea using a maritime drone, as well as carrying out strikes on three oil depots in the Stavropol Krai of the Russian Federation.
According to the security service, the Avero was being used to transport Russian oil in circumvention of the international embargo, specifically to China and India. The SBU noted that the strike on the vessel was carried out by the “Mamai” maritime drone.
The security service also reported that the Avero was already the fourth Suezmax-class tanker struck by the SBU in the last ten days.
In addition, Ukrainian drones attacked three oil depots in the Stavropol Krai, approximately 600 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border. According to the SBU, large-scale fires broke out at the facilities, and explosions and fires in fuel tanks were recorded.
The SBU emphasized that such operations are aimed at reducing Russia’s oil revenues and making it more difficult to supply the Russian army with fuel.
On the night of July 14, drones attacked one of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes—the “Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat” plant in Bashkortostan. The Afipsk Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai was also targeted.
Ukrainian UAVs attacked energy facilities and air defense systems in occupied Crimea.
