Video: An oil depot in Tver that supplies fuel to the Russian military caught fire following explosions
In Tver, Russia, a massive fire broke out at the Tvernefteprodukt oil depot on July 9 following a series of powerful explosions. According to preliminary reports, the fire engulfed one of the key fuel tanks at the strategic facility, which is used to supply fuel for Russia’s military logistics.
The first reports of the attack began to surface overnight. Videos showing a fire near one of the oil depot’s storage tanks were shared on social media and Telegram channels. According to OSINT analysts, the “Tvernefteprodukt” facility may have been the target of the strike.
The released footage shows flames and smoke rising above the facility’s grounds; however, it is currently impossible to confirm the authenticity of the video or the nature of the damage.
“Tvernefteprodukt” is one of the largest fuel operators in the Tver Region of the Russian Federation and is part of the Russian oil company “Surgutneftegaz.” The company is engaged in the wholesale and retail sale of gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products, operating a network of 52 gas stations and one large oil depot in Tver.
The Tver oil depot is located in the village of Elevator within the city limits of Tver and is used for receiving, storing, and shipping fuel by road and rail. The main petroleum products come from the Kirish Oil Refinery (KINEF), which is also part of the “Surgutneftegaz” group and is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries.
The company has been operating since 1967 and has been part of Surgutneftegaz since 1993. In addition to supplying its own network of gas stations, “Tvernefteprodukt” provides wholesale fuel supplies to businesses and commercial customers in the Tver Region, as well as offering petroleum product storage services.
It should be noted that the “Tvernefteprodukt” oil depot has previously been mentioned in reports of drone attacks. In particular, in April 2026, local residents also reported explosions and a fire in the area of this facility; however, at that time, Russian authorities did not officially confirm that the facility had been hit.
As of the morning of July 9, Russian authorities had not reported any possible casualties or the extent of damage at the oil depot in Tver.
Recently, there have been regular reports of drone strikes on oil depots, oil refineries, and oil pumping stations in various regions of Russia. Such facilities are key components of the fuel and energy infrastructure, which ensures the storage, transportation, and distribution of fuel.
