Video: Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Orlan-30 at a record distance
A crew from the 18th Aviation Command destroyed a Russian “Orlan-30” reconnaissance drone at a distance of 110 km, setting a record for the longest range of the Wovkulaka Spitfire interceptor drone. This was reported by Serhiy Prytula’s Foundation.
It is noted that the enemy UAV was shot down over the sea. The 18th Aviation Command is part of the “South” Air Command.
According to a military officer from the command, the crew was initially supposed to conduct reconnaissance at a distance of 50–60 km; however, due to a change in the tactical situation, a decision was made to extend the flight and pursue the target further.
To intercept the Russian drone, the military used the Wovkulaka Spitfire system, which the command received as part of the “Yedinozbor” initiative from Serhiy Prytula’s foundation.
The foundation emphasized that the successful takedown demonstrates both the crew’s high level of training and the effectiveness of Ukrainian interceptor drones at long ranges. They note that the use of such systems forces Russian reconnaissance UAVs to operate farther from the front line, reducing the effectiveness of their reconnaissance and fire correction.
The “Orlan-30” is one of the Russian army’s primary reconnaissance drones. It is used to detect Ukrainian positions, direct artillery fire, and transmit reconnaissance data for missile and drone strikes.

As a reminder, operators of the Ukrainian Defense Forces intercepted a Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drone at a record altitude of 6,858 meters. The target was destroyed by servicemen of the STING unit of the 105th Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
On the night of August 2, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 133 strike and decoy drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized 109 enemy drones, but strikes were recorded at 19 locations.
