Ukrainian ballistic missile strikes against Russia could begin this fall — Reuters
Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh reported that the Ukrainian FP-7 ballistic missile is currently undergoing certification by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. According to Reuters, the missile could see its first combat use as early as the fall of 2026.
According to Terekh, the FP-7 missile has a strike variant that can be used to engage ground targets. In addition, it has already undergone about 15 test launches and is currently in the certification phase at the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The CEO clarified that this process is expected to be completed within the next two to four weeks. The company expects to deploy this version of the missile in combat for the first time as early as the beginning of fall 2026.
Furthermore, the first combat launch of the significantly larger FP-9 ballistic missile, capable of reaching Moscow, is planned for late fall. Terekh noted that the FP-7’s architecture is based on Soviet designs for the S-300 and S-400 interceptor missile systems.
At the same time, the new Fire Point missile shares only about 20% of its components with these weapons systems, according to Reuters.
As a reminder, operators of the Ukrainian Defense Forces intercepted a Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drone at a record altitude of 6,858 meters. The target was destroyed by servicemen of the STING unit of the 105th Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
On the night of August 2, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 133 strike and decoy drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized 109 enemy drones, but strikes were recorded at 19 locations.
