Video: Ukrainian soldier took down a Russian Shahed with a machine gun

A machine gun platoon commander in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with the call sign “Kapitoshka,” managed to shoot down a Russian “Shahed” kamikaze drone using small arms. The soldier used an MG-42 machine gun.

According to our hero, he used a German MG-42 machine gun to destroy the enemy drone.

“Shooting down a ‘Shahed’ with a machine gun is quite a challenge. That’s why every target I hit brings incredible emotions. If the enemy drone didn’t reach its destination, it means someone survived. And that means a great deal. Serhiy ‘Kapitoshka,’ commander of the machine-gun platoon of the anti-aircraft battery of the 114th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, recounts one such episode,” reads the caption accompanying the released footage.

A video of his successful hunt for an enemy UAV was posted on Facebook by the 114th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces.

Air defense forces neutralized nearly 200 missiles and drones during the Russian attack.

Serhiy Shtilerman, co-owner and chief designer of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, posted a photo on July 29 showing the launch of an unidentified missile, but did not disclose any details about the footage.

As a reminder, on Monday, July 28, Fire Point reported that Ukrainian FP-1 drones struck a warehouse belonging to the Russian logistics operator 3PL in the village of Koledino.
