Video: Zelenskyy Outlines Ukraine's and Russia's Casualties
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian army has suffered significantly greater losses in the war than the Ukrainian Defense Forces. At the same time, he emphasized that it is currently impossible to determine the exact number of dead and wounded on both sides.
An American journalist asked the head of state if he knew the approximate losses of the Russian occupation forces over more than four years of full-scale war.
“Yes. So, their losses total 1.6 million, of which about 700,000 are dead. Roughly,” Zelenskyy replied.
The journalist then asked whether the President of Ukraine could provide figures for the losses of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to Zelenskyy, this is very difficult to do.
“I’m sorry, but to be honest, I don’t want to be too candid on this issue, because the Russians will figure out what’s happening with our army. We have about 50,000 military personnel killed, as well as about 400,000 wounded,” the Ukrainian leader explained.
In effect, Zelenskyy confirmed that Russia’s casualty toll is approximately 14 times higher than Ukraine’s. He also noted that there is a very large number of missing personnel.

Earlier reports indicated that following Russian attacks on the Kharkiv–Poltava highway, not a single gas station remained operational.
As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.
The WOG gas station chain in Kyiv and the Kyiv region will temporarily suspend nighttime operations due to the increased risk of enemy shelling.
