Russian forces are attempting to improve their position in the Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka urban area, according to Syrskyi

Russian occupation forces are stepping up their efforts to improve their tactical position in the area of the Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka urban agglomeration.

This was reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi during a visit to the 19th Corps’ area of responsibility, as posted on Facebook.

“I was in the area of responsibility of the 19th Corps, which is defending the Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka agglomeration. Russian occupation forces are attempting to improve their tactical position in this sector by combining attacks by small infantry groups with massive drone strikes,” he noted.

According to the commander-in-chief, the corps’ units have been repelling attempts to capture Kostiantynivka for nearly a year, holding their positions and inflicting significant losses on the enemy. The command demonstrates high adaptability to changes on the battlefield, employing unconventional and proactive approaches.

“The priority areas of work remain striking the occupiers’ rear logistics, neutralizing enemy infantry at the onset of assaults, and preserving the lives of our soldiers amid high-intensity combat operations,” Syrskyi emphasized.

He also focused on analyzing commanders’ proposals regarding the units’ urgent needs, particularly strengthening countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the supply of ammunition and logistical resources.

“As a result of this work, a number of issues raised by commanders on the ground were promptly resolved,” the Commander-in-Chief added. During his visit to the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Charter,” Syrskyi presented the soldiers with honorary breastplates of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Thank you once again for your exceptional professionalism, resilience, and courage in defending Ukraine,” he concluded.

Total combat losses of Russian troops in the war against Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to April 7, 2026, amount to approximately 1,305,470 personnel. Over the past 24 hours, another 980 occupiers were eliminated.

As a reminder, Ukrainian soldiers from the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great demonstrated an example of humanity by rescuing animals from the front lines. They converted a drone, which is usually used to deliver supplies, and used it to evacuate a cat and a dog.

Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are expanding the logistics corridor to Myrnohrad, according to the Airborne Forces.

Ukrainian defense forces continue to successfully repel Russian troops’ attempts to advance in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad areas.

Pokrovsk has become a critically important direction for Ukraine’s defense.

Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the area of responsibility of the "East" Operational Command repelled 106 attacks by Russian troops over the past 24 hours.

Syrsky described what is currently happening near Pokrovsk.
