Zaluzhny emphasized that illusions about a quick end to the war are dangerous

Following a large-scale combined attack by Russian forces on Kyiv, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, stated that hopes for a quick peace are misplaced

The diplomat emphasized that nighttime shelling of civilian targets and residential buildings is yet another proof of the enemy’s true intentions toward Ukraine.

In a Facebook post, Valerii Zaluzhnyi sharply criticized the actions of the Russian aggressor, who continues to employ tactics of terror against the civilian population.

He noted that every such attack shatters any assumptions about the possibility of an easy or quick end to hostilities.

“Kyiv. Russia demonstrates its ‘desire’ for peace time and time again—by cowardly killing civilians at night and destroying the homes of peaceful people,” the diplomat emphasized.

His position clearly indicates that the enemy has no intention of stopping or making genuine compromises, as it continues the systematic destruction of infrastructure.

Zaluzhny also addressed Ukraine’s international partners, emphasizing the need for a realistic assessment of the current situation on the front lines and in the rear.

In his view, the international community must intensify sanctions and military pressure on Russia so that the cost of aggression becomes prohibitive for Moscow.

“Such massive shelling is yet another proof that illusions about the war ending soon are deceptive. Our partners must also understand this reality. We must increase pressure on Russia so that the cost of the war becomes too high for it,” Valerii Zaluzhnyi noted.

Only through sustained pressure can the enemy be forced to change its aggressive course.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi shared this on Facebook.
