The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost its external power supply again due to a drone attack
The temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost its external power supply overnight following a drone attack.
This marks the 17th instance of a complete power outage at a nuclear facility since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
According to official information from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the latest incident was caused by an enemy drone striking the Nikopol substation.
This power facility is located on the Ukrainian-controlled bank of the Dnipro River, directly across from the nuclear power plant. The strike led to a temporary shutdown of the single power line supplying the nuclear site.
Power to critical safety systems was cut off for about 20 minutes, after which the power supply was restored.

The Joint Forces Operation Headquarters refuted Russian allegations of alleged shelling of the Zaporizhzhia NPP territory by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized that Ukraine did not strike the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. According to them, the reports disseminated by the Russian side are part of an information campaign, while Russia itself continues to use the occupied ZNPP as a tool for nuclear blackmail and a military facility.
