Zelenskyy denied Ukraine's involvement in the Nord Stream sabotage
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian state was not involved in the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in 2022. According to him, Germany “is well aware that Ukraine was behind neither the execution nor the very planning of this operation.”

German prosecutors claim that the detainee collaborated with another Ukrainian who was arrested in Italy in 2025. According to German prosecutors, the sabotage of the gas pipelines was ordered by the Ukrainian state.

Zelenskyy has consistently denied Kyiv's involvement in the operation. He said that Ukraine is helping Germany with the investigation and hopes that it will not cause a split in relations between the countries.
“It is very important for us not to lose our partnership, not to lose the trust of European countries that have been helping Ukraine since the very beginning of this war,” the president said. The Nord Stream gas pipelines were built to transport natural gas from Russia to Germany.
