Zelenskyy meets with Witkoff and Kushner in Kyiv — Anadolu Agency
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Sunday, September 6, with US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. “The negotiations have begun,” the head of state wrote on Telegram.
Delegation’s arrival
As Anadolu Agency reports, Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kyiv by train. This is their first visit to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to the TSN television channel, Zelenskyy stated that Russia, an aggressor state, did not allow the American delegation to arrive by plane, although Ukrainian airports were ready for this. The president said that Russian strikes make it impossible to use airports despite the preparations that had been made.

Talks after visit to Moscow
The US representatives’ trip to Kyiv took place after their visit to Moscow, where they held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the meeting lasted three hours and 10 minutes and concerned the war against Ukraine, as well as possible large-scale Russian-American projects.
According to Ushakov, the talks were substantive, constructive and frank. Earlier this year, Moscow and Kyiv held three rounds of US-mediated peace talks in January and February. The negotiation process was later suspended; Moscow and Kyiv linked this to the US war against Iran, which began at the end of February.
