The Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated the “Teacher of the Year” and a member of Russia’s national sword fighting team at the front
Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed Denis Kan, a Russian serviceman who worked as a teacher before the start of the war.
Since 2016, he had been an instructor at the Ivanivskyi Center for Additional Education and also headed the military-historical club “Avalon.” Kan received awards in modern sword fighting, was a member of the Russian national team in 2018 and 2020, and even became a prizewinner of the “Teacher of the Year” competition.
Kan was a champion of Russia in modern sword fighting (MSF) and a member of the Russian national MSF team in 2018 and 2020.
Kan’s club trained: one world champion in MSF, three Russian champions in MSF, and many prizewinners of nationwide competitions.
The eliminated occupier was also a prizewinner of the municipal stage of the “Teacher of the Year” competition.
In June 2022, Kan voluntarily joined Russia’s criminal war against Ukraine. Since November 2025, he had been considered missing in action. A few days ago, it became known that his body had been identified.
Within the framework of his club, he trained several prizewinners at the national and international levels in a sport that has since lost its significance in the context of military actions.
