The Ukrainian Armed Forces have refuted Moscow's claims regarding the capture of Nova Sich in the Sumy region
The Communications Center of the “Kursk” Military Group has officially refuted statements by the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the alleged capture of the village of Nova Sich in the Yunakivska community of Sumy Oblast. The Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasize that the settlement remains under the full control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Military command stated that the information disseminated by the Russian side is untrue.
“The village of Nova Sich is under the full control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Units of the Ukrainian army are steadfastly holding their positions and carrying out combat missions,” the “Kursk” military group emphasized.
Ukrainian military officials note that such reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense are yet another instance of information manipulation intended to create the illusion of success on the front lines.
“Such statements by enemy propagandists about ‘capturing’ territories where their soldiers have been seen only through the sights of Ukrainian drones are a long-standing practice. Clearly, this is a frantic reaction by the Russians to the constant, devastating strikes on their military facilities and logistics within their own territory,” the statement reads.
The Communications Center of the “Kursk” Army Group also emphasized that the Russian command is unable to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian military infrastructure, particularly attacks deep behind enemy lines.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces referenced the recent strike on the Khaline airbase, noting that due to the successful actions of Ukrainian forces, Russian generals are forced to invent “virtual victories” for domestic propaganda.
“Unable to stop Ukrainian deep strikes and middle strikes—such as the recent strike on the Khaline airbase—Russian generals are forced to conjure up at least virtual ‘victories’ for themselves,” the Ukrainian military concluded.

Over the past 24 hours, 238 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded on the front lines. The Russian army launched two missile strikes and 85 airstrikes, deployed over 8,000 kamikaze drones, and shelled Ukrainian military positions and populated areas nearly 3,000 times.
As a reminder, on the night of July 30, Russian troops carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Ukraine, using more than 70 missiles and over 280 attack drones. Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, came under fire.
In Poland, during a massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine on the night of July 29–30, an air raid alert was issued in part of the Lublin Voivodeship. After the alert ended, a crater about 10 meters in diameter and debris from an unidentified object were discovered in a field near the villages of Tarnava-Kolonia and Tokary.
