The Ukrainian Armed Forces Set a Record for Destroying Russian Artillery

In June, the Ukrainian Defense Forces set a new record for the number of Russian artillery systems destroyed. According to the Ministry of Defense, over the course of the month, Ukrainian forces destroyed or disabled more than 2,000 artillery systems, as well as a record number of enemy vehicles.

June was the toughest month for Russian artillery since the start of the full-scale war. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck 2,074 enemy artillery pieces during this period. By comparison, in May, Ukrainian forces destroyed or disabled 1,993 artillery systems. The Ministry of Defense notes that this is equivalent to more than 110 standard artillery battalions.

The Russian army also suffered significant losses in motorized vehicles. In June, Ukrainian defenders struck 12,878 vehicles and tankers. This is also a record figure. By comparison, there were 8,612 such losses in May. The ministry explains that one of the factors behind these results was the implementation of the “Logistical Lockdown” program. Its main goal is to systematically destroy Russian logistics, ammunition depots, transport, command posts, and supply routes in the enemy’s operational rear. In addition to artillery and vehicles, in June the Defense Forces also destroyed:

  • 103 Russian tanks;
  • 197 armored combat vehicles;
  • 60 air defense systems.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that for Russian air defense systems, these represent the highest monthly losses in the past two years and the second-highest figure since the start of the full-scale war. The ministry emphasizes that the systematic destruction of the enemy’s artillery, logistics, and equipment weakens the Russian army’s combat capabilities and makes it more difficult to supply its units on the front lines. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.

As a result of a massive Russian strike on the capital, a leased humanitarian warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed; it had stored over 320,000 items of cargo and equipment with a total value of more than 79 million hryvnias

As a result of Russian shelling and a fire at one of the capital’s enterprises, fuel and lubricants flowed into Kyrylivske Lake in Kyiv through the storm sewer system.
